Summary

Like its Game Boy predecessors, Rayman 3 primarily follows the classic side-scrolling platforming formula. The primary objective is to make it to the end of each level, but players can also gather a variety of collectibles that contribute to achieving 100% completion. Some of these items require returning to earlier levels with new abilities acquired throughout the game. In addition, there are two 3D mini-games featuring jet skiing and kart racing.

Storyline

One night, a Black Lum named André, believed to have emerged from pure darkness, emerges and begins turning other Red Lums into Black Lums to join his cause. The group eventually collects enough hair from various forest animals to craft themselves into scarecrow-like Hoodlums. During this, Murfy, a member and worker of the Fairy Council, stumbles upon them. Later, André spots Murfy hiding nearby and leads his Black Lums in a chase. Murfy is driven to a small open area where Rayman and his friend Globox are fast asleep. Just as Murfy reaches them, the noise wakes Globox. Understanding the danger, Globox joins Murfy in trying to protect Rayman, who remains asleep. In the attempt, Globox accidentally tears off Rayman's hands, forcing Murfy to lift Rayman by his hair and carry him to safety. To save himself, Globox flees, taking Rayman's hands with him.
