Remote Control is based on the MTV quiz show of the same name. In the game, three players—either controlled by the computer or by real people—compete by answering questions about TV shows, movies, characters, and actors or actresses. The game consists of two main rounds, followed by a fast-paced third round called "think real fast." During the first two rounds, the game board features a large TV screen with nine different channels. Each channel represents a specific category. One player selects a channel, and a question is revealed. The first player to buzz in and answer correctly earns points. A wide range of categories is available, such as "video high," "cop shows," "Saturday Night Live," "soap operas," and more, and these can change from game to game. Occasionally, a surprise channel appears that doesn't have a question, but instead gives or takes points from a player. These rounds continue until all the questions are used up. Toward the end of the second round, the player with the fewest points is eliminated, leaving two players for the final round. In the final "think real fast" round, players have thirty seconds to answer as many short-answer questions as they can to score points. The player with the highest score at the end of this round wins the game.
