The Ghost Survivors is one of the updates for 2019's Resident Evil 2. It was made available at no cost on February 15, 2019, serving as a set of "what-if" alternate stories featuring characters like gunstore owner Robert Kendo, the mayor's distant daughter Katherine Warren, a U.S.S. agent known by the alias Ghost, and Sheriff Daniel Cortini, delving into different possibilities where they manage to survive the main game's events.
The Ghost Survivors presents an alternate storyline where each mission explores a "what-if" scenario outside the main canon. In Kendo's No Time To Mourn, he is shown holding a gun to his head in front of his late daughter, Emma Kendo. Before he can take the shot, he gets a call from a friend offering a helicopter and urging him to reach a meeting point. Kendo makes it to the location and escapes Raccoon City safely via the helicopter. In Katherine Warren's Runaway, Katherine successfully defends herself against Brian Irons in the Director's Room and even kills him. She then begins heading toward the Jail on the B1 level of the Police Station, where it is revealed her true goal was to rescue Ben Bertolucci, someone she clearly cares for. In Ghost's Forgotten Soldier, it is uncovered that when Ada falls into the shaft, the G-Virus sample also drops and lands in the hands of the U.S.S. operative known only as "Ghost." With his mission accomplished, Ghost attempts to leave NEST, but as he reaches the cable car, Ada Wong appears behind him, gun drawn, and reclaims the sample. In Daniel Cortini's No Way Out, the Sheriff manages to fend off a zombie at the Mizoil Gas Station, but more undead begin to swarm the area. Daniel struggles to stay alive as long as possible. Eventually, Leon Scott Kennedy shows up, assists Daniel, and the two escape in Leon's vehicle.
