In an alternate version of 1951, Sgt. Nathan Hale joins a group of American troops deployed to support the British forces in their battle against the alien invaders called Chimera. After his unit is annihilated in a sudden ambush, Hale fights to stay alive...
In the early 1900s, an insectoid alien species called the Chimera arrives in Russia. Armed with advanced technology, they infect hundreds of unsuspecting civilians and force them through artificial evolution, creating a wide variety of creatures—from basic infantry to massive, spider-like behemoths. By 1949, the entire continent of Europe has been overrun by the Chimera. The next year, a massive invasion force burrows beneath the English Channel, capturing much of England and leaving only isolated bands of human resistance. In 1951, the United States, though officially neutral in the war, dispatches a special unit to aid the United Kingdom as part of "Operation Deliverance." One of the soldiers is Army Ranger Sgt. Nathan Hale. Shortly after arriving in York, he and his team are attacked by enemy forces, who infect them with the Chimera virus. Hale is the sole survivor and soon realizes he has a natural immunity to full infection. Instead, he gains enhanced strength and reflexes, the ability to rapidly recover from minor wounds, and golden irises—a defining feature of the Chimera.
