Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, known in Japan as The Puppet Princess of Marl Kingdom, is a tactical role-playing game developed for the PlayStation by Atlus USA and Nippon Ichi Software, the team behind Disgaea. It is part of the Marl Kingdom series. Rhapsody and its follow-up titles are classified as musical RPGs, featuring song-based sequences instead of traditional FMV cutscenes, complete with singing and musical performances. The game is also praised for its "extreme cuteness" and relatively easy difficulty. While this might suggest it's aimed at younger players, the game and the series as a whole have enjoyed significant popularity in Japan.
The game follows the journey of Cornet, a young girl with the unique ability to communicate with puppets and a magical horn that can grant wishes, and Kururu, a puppet who possesses the heart and soul of a human. Most of the story revolves around Cornet and Kururu as they work together to rescue Prince Ferdinand (who Cornet is fond of) after he is transformed into stone by the self-proclaimed "most beautiful witch in the world." The witch, Marjoly, also harbors feelings for the prince and intended to put him into a deep sleep, but she botched the spell, resulting in his petrification instead.
