Ridge Racer 7 is the seventh main entry in the Ridge Racer racing game franchise, launched for the PlayStation 3. The title includes approximately 40 vehicles, many of which are reprised from Ridge Racer 6 and the PlayStation Portable versions. It offers 22 tracks, each playable in forward, reverse, and mirror configurations. The game delivers a 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and supports Dolby Digital 5.1 surround audio, along with free online multiplayer through PlayStation Network. The game was first revealed at the 2006 E3 convention with a teaser trailer, and the first gameplay trailer debuted at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show. As with several other titles in the series, it opens with a full-motion video starring Reiko Nagase. Ridge Racer 7 has later been re-released as part of Sony's "Platinum" and "The Best" affordable game collections. In October 2010, a patch titled "Ridge Racer 7 3D License Version" was released, allowing the game to be experienced in 3D.
