Rise Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) created by Rokosoft.
They knew that when Marduk arrived, they would be destroyed. Before Aarvad, the demigods who ruled over seven distinct planets—each one uniquely beautiful, crafted by the Nameless Creator—grew so powerful that they lost sight of their origins. They became arrogant, self-assured, and cruel. Living beyond time and untouched by death, they grew corrupt. When the Nameless Creator made them in his image, he was kind. He gave them strength and observed from afar, curious to see what they would become. But what he witnessed filled him with sorrow. The demigods turned on one another, spilling blood. The Creator called upon his loyal servant, the destroyer Marduk. Marduk transformed into a massive comet and obliterated the seven planets and the beings who dwelled there. As the worlds vanished, a tremendous surge of energy was released. The Nameless Creator reflected and chose to try once more. This time, there would be death and life. This time, it would be hard. If the beings wished to endure, they would have to struggle. They would have to earn the right to live. At the Creator’s command, Marduk shaped Aarvad, a world far harsher than the ones before, filled with storms and calamities. He placed fire and water, mountains and sky within it. The Nameless Creator was pleased with the new world taking form. Life and death were now in balance. The Unnamed Creator wandered Aarvad all day. He observed the sun and its impact on the land. Then he closed his eyes and created the God of Life and the Sun, his son Arius. Night fell. The Nameless Creator roamed Aarvad under the stars. He walked through forests, crossed mountains, and entered a cave where he closed his eyes. He understood the nature of darkness and in a dream, saw his daughter Naru. When she awoke, Naru, the goddess of darkness and death, sat before him, as radiant as the stars. The Nameless Creator gave her part of his power and left Aarvad to watch from afar. Arius dreamed of fish gliding through the ocean under the sun, and his dream became reality. Arius realized his power was creation. Life began in the seas and then moved onto land. From single-celled creatures to reptiles, then mammals and humans, life evolved, though in a basic form. Naru, when she showed the soul of the first being to die the path to the afterlife, understood her power was death. The eyes of the souls that emerged when life left a body were closed to the world. They wandered in Naru’s realm, a place without light, but it was hopeless. The cries of lost souls overwhelmed Naru with grief, and the goddess of death wept in her dark cave. Her tears hardened into a growing crystal. The crystal pierced the ceiling of Naru’s underground cave and continued to rise. When it stopped, the Narun Crystal began to glow with a dark light visible only to spirits. Drawn by this light, the spirits found Naru weeping in her cave. They comforted her. The souls who consoled Naru transformed into soul gatherers. Understanding their own pain and how it had hurt their goddess, the soul gatherers ensured that the souls that followed would not suffer. They led them to the crystalline light, their goddess. Naru was unsure what to do with the souls in her care. She decided to seek Arius. The Sun God and the Goddess of Darkness reached an agreement. If a soul could atone for its past before Naru while she judged it, it would leave her cave and be sent to Arius. And so it was. Naru allowed some souls to see the light again and sent them to Arius, and the cycle of rebirth began. As the reborn souls lived in their new forms, they recalled the errors of their past lives and avoided repeating them. Because of this, they advanced quickly, and from them arose the great Protean Empire.
