Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed, later known in Japan as Over Drivin’, is a 1994 racing game that initially launched on the 3DO platform before being adapted for MS-DOS, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. It marks the debut entry in the Need for Speed franchise. The game centers around high-speed races in sports cars, featuring a variety of exotic and Japanese-made models. The Sega Saturn edition added three new closed-circuit race tracks, bringing the total to six at launch, and introduced a day-and-night time selection feature that wasn’t present in earlier versions.
