Summary

The characters can move between various locations in the game by driving their black and white 1960 DeSoto Adventurer, which, when chosen, displays a list of reachable destinations. The DeSoto also plays a role in several driving scenes, typically involving chasing or escaping criminals in other cars. During these driving scenes, the player can use Sam's gun, the car's horn, or let Max try to talk to other vehicles through a megaphone. Additionally, special inventory items might be needed to solve particular puzzles in these segments. Driving sequences are also part of various minigames, like stopping unsuspecting drivers for made-up crimes. Staying true to the developer's roots in LucasArts adventure games, *Sam & Max Save the World* is designed so that the player characters can't die or hit an unsolvable dead end.
