Save Mary is an Atari 2600 action title centered on building platforms to rescue Mary, the trapped heroine. The protagonist is a simple construction worker who must gather crates to create stepping stones, enabling Mary to climb upward toward the summit of the valley. The antagonist is a mustachioed villain who holds Mary captive at the valley's base for his own twisted enjoyment. The player operates a crane at the top of the valley, using it to grab crates by pressing the button. Collecting bonus items rewards the player with extra points. The level resets under the following conditions: - The water rises above Mary's head - A crate lands on or hits Mary - Mary falls from a great height. There is no final conclusion, as after completing all levels, the game simply begins again. As a result, the game continues in an endless loop. Save Mary took over two years to develop, making it the longest in production of any Atari 2600 title.
