Summary

Shadowrun is an action role-playing game based on the cyberpunk tabletop RPG of the same name. It is the second video game to be adapted from the Shadowrun franchise, offering a more open and flexible gameplay experience compared to its 1993 Super NES predecessor, Shadowrun by Beam Software. Set in the Shadowrun universe during the 2050s, the game takes place in an era where the fusion of technology and the human body is widespread. This is the time when the Matrix, a vast digital network, was launched, allowing users to directly access its cyberspace. It was also a period of magical resurgence: a mysterious event known as The Awakening brought magic back into the world. Sorcery became possible once more, and humans began to randomly and gradually mutate into orcs, dwarves, elves, or trolls. This upheaval sparked political tensions, as powerful mega-corporations sought to dominate the globe. However, the return of magic empowered native shamans, who challenged corporate rule and caused dramatic shifts in the world's geography. The Amerindians and Elves reclaimed a region known as Salish-Shidhe, located near the free city of Seattle, a key metropolis in the newly established United Canadian and American States.
