Summary

Sins of a Solar Empire is a 2008 sci-fi real-time strategy computer game created by Ironclad Games and published by Stardock Entertainment for the Microsoft Windows platform. As a real-time strategy (RTS) title, it blends aspects of 4X strategy games, and its developers refer to it as "RT4X." In the game, players take command of a space-faring empire in a distant future, striving to dominate star systems through military, economic, and diplomatic tactics. The game launched on February 4, 2008, and was met with favorable reviews and numerous accolades from the gaming community. Its first expansion, Entrenchment, was made available as a downloadable content (DLC) on February 25, 2009, followed by the second expansion, Diplomacy, on February 9, 2010. A bundled version that included the base game and the first two expansions was released under the name Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity. A third expansion, the standalone title Rebellion, came out in June 2012.
