Skylanders: Swap Force is a platform video game created by Vicarious Visions and released by Activision. It serves as the third major title in the Skylanders video game and toy series, coming after 2012's Skylanders: Giants, which itself followed 2011's Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, a spin-off from The Legend of Spyro series. It precedes Skylanders: Trap Team and includes voice acting by John DiMaggio, Jess Harnell, Audrey Wasilewski, Richard Tatum, David Sobolov, Josh Keaton, Keythe Farley, Dave Wittenberg, Joey Camen, Gregg Berger, Troy Baker, and Robin Atkin Downes. This is the first Skylanders game to launch in North America ahead of other regions, a shift from the prior two games that debuted first in Australia. It is also the first entry in the franchise not under Vivendi's ownership.
The adventure kicks off with Master Eon welcoming players to the vibrant realm of Skylands and introducing its guardians, the Skylanders. The seasoned Portal Master then recounts the history of a unique team of Skylanders called the SWAP Force, who once defended the Cloudbreak Islands and its enchanted volcano that renews Skylands’ magic every century. During a fierce confrontation with a horde of Fire Vipers summoned by a mysterious dark force, the SWAP Force were engulfed in the volcano’s explosive eruption. This event granted them the power to swap halves, but also sent them into exile on Earth. In the current time, Flynn is visiting the Cloudbreak Islands to witness the next hundred-year eruption. He meets Tessa, a fox girl riding a giant bird named Whiskers, and is soon pulled into a new quest when Kaos commands a squad of Greebles to assault Tessa’s village before the volcano’s grand celebration.
