Slender's Woods

Summary

Slender's Woods is a brief horror game centered around the legendary Slender Man. Naturally, the game draws inspiration from the well-known Slender title by Parsec Productions, but it features a distinct gameplay style. The Gamejolt version includes several fixes and additional refinements.

Storyline

A man, heartbroken after his wife left him, finds city life unbearable. He decides to retreat to a cabin once owned by his parents in search of solace. At first, the solitude is peaceful, but soon he begins to hear odd sounds coming from outside. Curious, he grabs his old flashlight and steps outside to investigate. He experiences a strange burst of static and glimpses a mysterious figure before quickly returning to the cabin. To his horror, the door is now locked from the inside. With no other option, he ventures into the forest. There, he discovers another cabin with a note left by a man named Cody. The message describes Cody’s growing fear and the eerie happenings in the woods. He mentions heading into the tunnels in search of an escape. Inspired, the man finds a key to the tunnels and follows suit. Inside, he reads another note from Cody, who claims he can’t find a way out and has encountered a faceless, tall figure with long arms. Cody then heads toward a mansion, believing it might have a working phone. The man locates a key to the mansion and makes his way there, only to be confronted by the Slender Man. As he moves through the forest, the creature becomes more of a constant presence. He reaches the mansion, where another note from Cody reveals that the phones are dead and the fences are impossible to climb, as the Slender Man always appears. Cody then heads to the sawmill, determined to find a way to defeat the creature. The man follows the same path. He searches the mansion’s basement and finds a hammer. After some effort, he breaks open a locked door, learning the key is hidden in a ruined house or a cave. He retrieves it and returns to the sawmill. As he runs through the tunnels, he sees warnings and brief glimpses of the Slender Man. At the end, he discovers what he believes to be Cody’s remains, with bloodstains covering the ceiling. He grabs a gun and sets out to kill the Slender Man. After a few shots, he believes he has succeeded. He leaves the forest, only to be met by multiple creatures resembling the Slender Man. These are his final thoughts: "I try to move my arm, but there's no feeling, and when I look, there's nothing there. Something warm is flowing down my fingers, and pain surges through my back. Life is leaving my body, pain flowing out with my blood. The ground is red and wet beneath me. God in heaven, teach me how to die."
