Summary
Sly 2: Band of Thieves is a stealth-action platform game created by Sucker Punch Productions and launched on PlayStation 2 in 2004. In the game, players take control of Sly Cooper and his crew as they work to take down the Klaww Gang and retrieve the scattered pieces of Clockwerk. The title builds upon its predecessor with more flexible mission designs, support for multiple playable characters, and enhanced stealth features. The narrative is set two years after the events of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. While the first game introduced Sly as a rising thief, Band of Thieves finds him fully established in his craft, retaining all the abilities from the original. He also acquires new skills and tools to aid in his heists. Players may begin a level as Sly, and after completing a specific objective, transition to playing as Bentley and then Murray.
Storyline
Two years after vanquishing Clockwerk, Sly Cooper infiltrates the Museum of Natural History in Cairo to retrieve and destroy the remaining Clockwerk parts, hoping to permanently eliminate the threat to his family. However, he finds the parts have already vanished. Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox and her new partner, Constable Neyla, confront Sly, but he manages to slip away before they can apprehend him. Just before escaping, Sly overhears Neyla hint that the evidence points to the Klaww Gang taking the parts for their own purposes. The Cooper Gang travels to Paris, where they discover the first Klaww Gang member, Dimitri, using Clockwerk tail feathers as printing plates to forge currency. Sly and the team shut down the counterfeit operation, and Dimitri is captured by Interpol. Next, the gang heads to India, where the second Klaww Gang member, Rajan, is showcasing Clockwerk’s wings at a lavish ball. Rajan is also the leader of a local criminal organization that cultivates and sells "spice," an illegal plant native to the Indian jungle. Other Klaww Gang members and several undercover Interpol agents, including Carmelita and Neyla, are also in attendance. During the event, the Cooper Gang steals the Clockwerk wings while a disguised Sly distracts Carmelita with a dance. After the gang escapes with the wings, Carmelita reveals her identity and begins making arrests. The Klaww Gang flees, and Rajan disappears into the jungle. The Cooper Gang tracks him to a long-forgotten temple where he’s using half of Clockwerk’s heart to enhance his spice crops with super-irrigation. Rajan keeps the other half of the heart on a staff he never leaves without. The gang retrieves both pieces of the heart and neutralizes Rajan, but Carmelita, Neyla, and the Contessa arrive on the scene. Neyla accuses Carmelita of collaborating with the Cooper Gang during the theft of the Clockwerk wings. She betrays the gang and arrests Sly, Murray, and Carmelita.
