Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, referred to as Sonic Toon: Fire & Ice in Japan, is a 2016 action-adventure platformer crafted by Sanzaru Games and released by Sega. It's a part of the Sonic Boom offshoot within the Sonic the Hedgehog series, joining titles like Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal, as well as an animated series. Initially set for a Fall 2015 launch, Fire & Ice will now arrive on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. Embark on this thrilling journey as Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, or Sticks to thwart Dr. Eggman and a brand-new foe named D-Fekt. Tap into the forces of fire and ice to overcome challenges, solve puzzles, and halt enemies in place. Use Sonic’s speed, Tails’ flying ability, Knuckles’ power, Sticks’ boomerang, and Amy’s hammer to traverse, battle, and race through a mysterious new world. Challenge friends in two-player bot races and unlock six fresh tracks by gathering artifacts across the land. Face off against massive bosses that span both screens. Engage in mini-games packed with tricky puzzles and time-based trials, including a brand-new version of the beloved Sea Fox.
Dr. Eggman has uncovered the potent element ragnium on the legendary Island of Ragna Rock. He harnesses it as an energy source, diverting the hazardous by-products to neighboring islands, resulting in fiery and icy gameplay. Fueling his high-speed bot racers with this power is his latest scheme to undermine his age-old rival, Sonic. But with ragnium, fire and ice, a mechanized army, and D-Fekt, a relentlessly formidable enforcer, Dr. Eggman might finally pull off his greatest triumph yet. Sonic and his allies must reclaim each island by defeating enemies, overcoming the Island Defender, winning competitive races, and reversing the elemental flow through the pipelines. The adventure reaches its peak in a climactic showdown on the Island of Ragna Rock, where Sonic might be forced to rescue Dr. Eggman from the very force he unleashed.
