Summary
Sonic Colors, known as Sonic Colours in Europe and Australia, is a platform game from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, created by Sonic Team and published by Sega in 2010. It launched globally for the Wii in November 2010, with a separate Nintendo DS version featuring alternate gameplay released simultaneously.
Storyline
The game focuses on the hero Sonic the Hedgehog and his battle against the primary villain of the Sonic series, Dr. Eggman, who has captured an alien species and is exploiting them for his sinister plans. Throughout the game, the camera view shifts from third-person to side-scrolling at times. During development, Sega stated they were removing lower-quality entries from the Sonic series and creating new games to enhance the brand's value. The development process featured the use of shifting perspectives, the setting of an amusement park, and an original musical score. Sega also mentioned that the game was being crafted to appeal to a broad audience, including both younger and older players. The game introduces power-ups known as Wisps, which players can use to boost their attack strength and access areas that would otherwise be unreachable.
