Summary
Sonic Mega Collection is a video game compilation created by Sonic Team and released by Sega in 2002 for the GameCube. The collection features between twelve and fourteen titles (depending on the region), all originally launched on the Sega Genesis. Ten of these titles are part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, while the other two to four are Sega-published games with only indirect ties to the series. As explained by director Yojiro Ogawa, the goal of the compilation was to introduce younger audiences to the classic Sonic titles. The games are played using a Genesis emulator developed by Sonic Team. In addition to the games, the compilation offers Sonic-themed videos and artwork, along with high-resolution scans of the original instruction manuals and Sonic the Hedgehog comic book covers.
