Sonic P-06

Summary

Sonic P-06 is a platformer created by Argentinian developer "ChaosX" for Windows. It serves as an unofficial reimagining of the 2006 title Sonic the Hedgehog, which was originally crafted by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The remake includes numerous enhancements over the original, such as refined controls, quicker loading times, upgraded visuals, a range of bug fixes, restored dialogue, and brand new mid-level cinematic sequences. P-06 has amassed a large cult fanbase and a thriving speedrunning scene. As of August 2023, nine demos have been released, featuring all primary levels from Sonic's, Shadow's, and Silver's storylines. However, the boss battles, hub areas, town missions, and the final narrative segments from the original game are still not included in P-06.

Storyline

Doctor Eggman captures Princess Elise of Soleanna, aiming to tap into the Flames of Disaster, a devastating force locked within her. With the help of his companions Tails and Knuckles, Sonic sets out to safeguard Elise from Eggman's grasp. At the same time, Shadow and his partner Rouge unintentionally awaken an evil entity named Mephiles. The spirit sends them to a ruined future, where a monstrous demon named Iblis has devastated the world. When Mephiles encounters survivors Silver and Blaze, he tricks them into believing Sonic is responsible for the destruction and sends them back in time to eliminate him. As the story unfolds, Sonic and his allies journey across the past, present, and future to stop Mephiles and Iblis and keep Elise safe from Eggman. Initially, Silver pursues Sonic and hinders his mission to rescue Elise, but Shadow reveals that Sonic is not the source of his world's suffering—Mephiles is the true villain, seeking to alter the past for his own dark agenda. They discover that Mephiles wants to unite with Iblis, who was sealed inside Elise as a child, as they are the two halves of Soleanna’s all-powerful deity, Solaris. Mephiles eventually achieves his goal by killing Sonic, causing Elise to weep and break the seal on Iblis, merging with him to become Solaris, who then tries to devour time itself. The heroes channel the power of the Chaos Emeralds to bring Sonic back to life, and he, Shadow, and Silver transform into their ultimate forms to defeat Solaris. Sonic and Elise are sent back to the past, where they extinguish Solaris’s flame, erasing the god from existence and preventing the tragic events from ever happening. Still, both Sonic and Elise later show subtle signs of remembering their encounter.
