Sorcerer King represents a bold new approach to 4X game design, challenging players with a single, immensely powerful adversary rather than a group of balanced factions competing for vague victory goals. Imagine the Sorcerer King as the dark wizard who triumphed in the last classic 4X game. He has already taken over the world. His foes—including you—are scattered, their forces shattered and cities in ruins. His sinister followers roam freely, terrorizing the remnants of civilization everywhere except for a handful of small, surviving enclaves (such as the one you begin in), too weak for him to bother destroying.
