Space Gun is a first-person, on-rails shooter arcade game developed by Taito and launched in 1990. It was later made available on multiple home gaming consoles in 1992, and in 2005, it was re-released as part of the Taito Legends compilation for PlayStation 2, PC, and Xbox. The game takes place on a damaged space station that has been invaded by aggressive alien lifeforms; the player must rescue surviving human crew members while eliminating the alien threats. Space Gun includes realistic blood effects, allowing players to sever limbs from enemies and witness blood splatters on screen. Throughout the game, players can collect various power-ups to enhance their weapons. The soundtrack has been released on multiple commercial CDs. The game was generally praised by critics in both arcade and home versions. It was among the rare titles to support a light gun peripheral for certain home console releases.
