Summary

This version of Space Invaders is modeled after the 1994 arcade title Space Invaders DX, though it omits the parody mode featured in the original. What stays is the classic mode, letting players select the type of arcade cabinet—such as upright or black and white—as a backdrop to the gameplay. It also includes the versus mode for two players, which uses a split-screen format where each player competes to outlast and defeat more aliens than their rival. The PC Engine (TurboGrafx) CD edition adds a special "cosmic versus" mode, where the background features anime-style illustrations of girls. These same visuals also appear in the "omake mode," a single-player option that uses the same artistic backgrounds.
