Speed Devils: Online Racing is a revamped edition of Speed Devils that reuses the original game's tracks and vehicles, introduces new ones, and features entirely new game modes centered around online multiplayer. The game offers both online and offline play. Offline serves as a training ground for online and includes only two modes: Arcade, where players race against AI opponents, and Ghost, a solo challenge against personal bests. Initially, car selection is limited, and additional vehicles can only be unlocked through online play. The core experience lies in the Online mode. After creating a custom online profile, players begin with $10,000, just enough to purchase a basic-class car. Additional funds must be earned through racing, allowing players to buy new vehicles and upgrade them with performance parts. There are three main race types: Standard, Trial, and Vendetta. In Standard races, players can earn money in multiple ways—winning is just one. Breaking speed limits at designated points and setting records (such as top speed, fastest lap, or longest lead) also boost earnings. Trial races involve betting: the race creator sets a minimum entry fee that all participants must pay. The creator also chooses between one and four challenges from a list of 22, including record-setting tasks, speed limit enforcement (or evasion), best lap times on specific laps, consistent lap improvement, or avoiding damage. The pooled money is then distributed among all players who complete their challenges, factoring in challenge difficulty and final standings. Vendetta races are one-on-one duels where the winner takes the opponent's car. The game features all tracks from the original (7 unique tracks in 12 layouts), adds a "Heavy Winter" layout to the Canada track, and introduces a new track (Montreal) with three configurations, bringing the total to 16 distinct tracks. All tracks can be raced in reverse or mirrored, with customizable weather and time-of-day settings. The car roster has been doubled from the original, with 11 new vehicles added.
