Speed Racer

Summary

Speed Racer is an arcade-style game similar to Daytona USA on the Sega Saturn. The first track is nearly identical, though it omits the pit lane, the Sonic sculpture embedded in a wall, and features different sponsor banners. The main distinction between the two games lies in the car's performance and the ability to use all the gadgets from the anime series, Mach 5. These gadgets allow the player to "shunt" other vehicles (even with the Cutter, cars only bounce off without sustaining damage), take alternate routes (such as cutting through trees or driving under lakes), and more. The controls are straightforward, letting the player switch between gadgets and camera perspectives. Players can also select the race length and adjust basic sound settings from the menu.
