Summary
Splatoon is mainly a team-focused third-person shooter supporting up to eight players in 4-on-4 battles, though it also includes a solo campaign. Players take control of characters known as Inklings, who can switch between human and squid形态. Shifting into squid form lets players swim through their team's ink, including on walls and through grates, allowing them to hide from opponents and restore their ink supply.
Storyline
When the Great Zapfish, the main energy source for Inkopolis, is taken, Cap'n Cuttlefish sends a team of Inklings on a mission to infiltrate the Octarians' hidden underground base and recover it. Players take on the identity of Agent 3 from the New Squidbeak Splatoon and navigate the dangerous terrain of Octo Valley to retrieve lost Zapfish, Sunken Scrolls, and Power Eggs.
