Summary

Squirrel & Bär is an adventure game designed for children aged 3 to 9 to learn English as a second language on mobile devices and tablets. Join Squirrel & Bär on an exciting quest to rescue the bees by finding a magical flower. The adventure begins in the forest, where players must complete 22 levels. Along the way, they travel through five unique worlds, meeting different animals who offer assistance. At the journey's end, a lynx waits for the players—but she only speaks English! Fortunately, Squirrel & Bär has learned all the essential words and phrases needed to ask the lynx for help!

Storyline

The bees are unwell, which means there will soon be no honey and no more nuts. Oh no! But don’t worry—Squirrel and Bär are here to help you fix the issue. Locate the lynx and the magical flower she protects, deep in the distant mountains. It’s up to you to assist the two friends as they face exciting adventures through the forest, the city, and high into the mountains. Beginning in German, players gradually learn more English vocabulary as they explore. Over 900 English phrases are included in the game, thoughtfully selected according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. “You can start playing without any prior knowledge of a foreign language,” says game designer Linda Kruse. The game was thoroughly tested multiple times with a group of children aged two to nine and their parents.
