The Family Computer version of Star Force features the player commanding a spacecraft known as the Final Star, engaging enemies and dismantling hostile structures to earn points. Unlike later vertical-scrolling shooters such as Toaplan's Twin Cobra, the Final Star offered just two levels of firepower and lacked secondary armaments like missiles or bombs. Each level in the game was labeled with a letter from the Greek alphabet. In some versions, an extra stage titled "Infinity" (symbolized by the infinity sign) follows the Omega level, after which the game loops endlessly.
