The Bajorans regard the extraterrestrial beings dwelling within the wormhole near their world as divine entities known as the Prophets, whom they revere as deities. They call the wormhole the "Celestial Temple." According to Bajoran lore, thousands of years ago, the Prophets banished another species, the Pah-wraiths, from the wormhole and confined them eternally in the Fire Caves on Bajor. Legends also speak of three crimson Orbs believed to contain the means for the Pah-wraiths' rebirth and return to the Temple, though the location of these Orbs remains unknown. Or so it has been believed. The game is inspired by a three-book series written by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens: Millennium: The Fall of Terok Nor, The War of the Prophets, and Inferno. It takes place on the Deep Space Nine space station, a central location in the American science fiction TV series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
