Star Wars: The Force Unleashed redefines the power and reach of the Force, placing players in the role of Darth Vader’s "Secret Apprentice." The game introduces a new perspective on the Star Wars universe through a mysterious protagonist who wields extraordinary abilities, uncovering hidden truths along the way. The Switch edition is a port of the original Wii version, featuring several key changes. It keeps the motion controls from the Wii, enabling players to use the Joy-Con to perform actions such as lightsaber combat and Force abilities. While visual upgrades are subtle, the game runs smoothly at a consistent 60 FPS, an enhancement over earlier versions that suffered from performance hiccups. This version includes the Jedi Temple missions, which were previously available as downloadable content. However, some memorable sequences from the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions, such as the destruction of a Star Destroyer using the Force, are either simplified or shown as pre-rendered scenes. It also brings back the local multiplayer mode from the Wii version. Players can personalize their lightsaber with a variety of colors, hilts, and combat crystals, although certain elements from other versions, like the unstable kyber crystal, are omitted.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed takes place between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, chronicling the journey of a young apprentice under Darth Vader who is trained to hunt down and destroy the last of the Jedi across the galaxy.
