Storyline
StepMania is a cross-platform rhythm game and engine. It began as a simulator for Konami's arcade series, Dance Dance Revolution, and has since grown into a flexible rhythm game engine that supports a wide range of rhythm-based gameplay styles. The main gameplay involves the following: as arrows move upward on the screen, they align with a fixed set of target arrows. When they match up, the player presses the corresponding keys on their keyboard or dance pad. The arrows align with the targets in sync with the music's beat. The player's score depends on how precisely they hit the arrows in time with the rhythm. StepMania offers multiple input methods. Special adapters can connect console devices such as PS2 and Xbox controllers or dance mats to a computer. Alternatively, players can use the keyboard to input rhythms by tapping arrow keys or other designated keys.
