Strider 2, launched in arcades and on the Sony PlayStation in 2000, serves as the follow-up to the iconic arcade and multiplatform title Strider. This game is widely regarded as the authentic sequel to the original Strider, rather than Strider Returns. Strider Returns is not recognized as part of the main series, as it was not developed by Capcom, was exclusive to Western audiences, and was largely panned by fans and critics alike. In contrast, Strider 2 was met with strong praise. Despite its acclaim from both critics and longtime fans of the series, it struggled to find a broad audience and did not achieve strong sales. The PlayStation edition of the game came with the original Strider on a separate disc, allowing newcomers to get familiar with the series. In the United States, a printing error caused the labels on the two CDs to be swapped, so the Strider 2 disc was mistakenly labeled Strider, and the original Strider disc was labeled Strider 2.
