Summer Athletics: The Ultimate Challenge is a compilation of sports events inspired by the Olympic Summer Games. It includes 28 different sports grouped into eight categories: Swimming, jumping, throwing, cycling, running, platform diving, archery, and the new addition, skeet shooting (with two variations). The gameplay is consistent across all sports: rhythmic movements to maintain the athlete's motion and quick-time events (pressing a button when it appears on the screen) to execute specific actions. These rhythmic movements vary depending on the input device used. For example, in the swimming event, players must alternate between two buttons when using a keyboard, or rotate the analog sticks when using a gamepad. During skeet shooting, the player character automatically aims, and the player only needs to fire at the correct moment.
