Super Fantasy Zone is part of the Fantasy Zone game series and was first launched in 1992 for the Sega Mega Drive. In contrast to earlier titles, this game was fully developed by Sunsoft, who held a license from Sega, and had previously released Fantasy Zone and Fantasy Zone II on the Nintendo Famicom. For unclear reasons, the game never came out on cartridge in North America, and its status as a Sega Channel title remains unconfirmed. It later gained broader availability through the Wii's Virtual Console service.
