Challenger Pack 8 was officially unveiled as Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII during The Game Awards. Players who had bought the DLC or Season Pass could unlock the character ahead of time by completing a special in-game challenge mode featuring Sephiroth, which was available for five days prior to the release.
