Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Touch de Dokodon is a rhythm-based game for the Nintendo DS developed by Namco Bandai, in which players hit a virtual Taiko drum on the touchscreen to the beat of various songs. While the game offers optional button controls, the primary method of play involves using two styluses to tap on the touch screen, which displays a large image of a Taiko drum. The game features two main modes: Free Play and Daily Dojo. Free Play allows players to enjoy songs they've already unlocked at their leisure, while Daily Dojo presents a one-time daily challenge using a randomly selected unlocked track. There are four difficulty levels: Flower, Bamboo, Tree, and Demon. The highest difficulty, known as Oni Mode, starts off hidden and must be unlocked by the player. Beyond the core gameplay, players can customize their Taiko character with humorous outfits, which are purely visual and do not influence performance. A multiplayer mode is also included, which can be played using a single game card. If both players own the game, the outfits they've chosen for their Taiko characters will appear on the corresponding player's character. The game includes two "Bachi Pens," styluses themed after the Taiko no Tatsujin series for use with the game, and it holds a CERO A rating, which is the Japanese equivalent of an ESRB "Everyone" rating.
This game does not include any narrative elements and therefore lacks a storyline.
