Summary

An all-new episodic journey unfolds in the treacherous badlands of Pandora. This cooperative creation takes place following the events of *Borderlands 2* and is an official part of the franchise's ongoing story.

Storyline

The game begins in medias res as an unknown figure abducts Rhys and Fiona, compelling them to recount their intertwined experiences with the Gortys Project. Rhys, a Hyperion employee stationed at Helios, is demoted by Hugo Vasquez. After learning that Vasquez plans to buy a Vault Key from August, Rhys and Vaughn steal a case of cash and travel to Pandora to make the purchase first. However, they soon discover that the Key is a counterfeit crafted by con artists Fiona and Sasha, along with their mentor Felix. The money is then stolen by Bossanova, prompting Rhys, Vaughn, Fiona, Sasha, and Felix to reluctantly team up to retrieve it. Rhys implants a Hyperion ID chip he recovered from the corpse of Professor Nakayama into his cybernetics, hoping it will lead him to the briefcase, but after losing consciousness, no progress is made. Eventually, they track the money to a hidden Atlas facility, where Felix betrays them and takes the cash for himself. He activates the briefcase’s explosive lock, resulting in either his death or escape based on Fiona’s decision. The group then uncovers the Gortys core in a concealed chamber within the Atlas base. A hologram of Handsome Jack appears to Rhys, revealing that they have found the Gortys Project and are one step closer to a Vault.
