The PlayStation 3 edition of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection features several adjustments to gameplay, such as the inclusion of Jinpachi Mishima as a playable character once defeated in Arcade Mode. Players can also unlock stages from the original Tekken 5 after finishing the PS3 version five times.
After the conclusion of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Jin Kazama defeats his father, Kazuya Mishima, at the Mishima Zaibatsu’s Honmaru temple. Disillusioned by Kazuya’s failure, Heihachi Mishima confronts Jin, only to be overpowered when Jin transforms into his Devil state. At the final moment, Jin regains his composure and spares Heihachi before departing, leaving the battlefield behind. Shortly after, Honmaru is unexpectedly attacked by a swarm of Jack robots originating from an unknown location. Heihachi and Kazuya are forced to team up to fend off the relentless assault, but as the battle escalates, Kazuya betrays his father and flees. The temple is consumed in a massive explosion, and Heihachi is believed to have perished. In the wake of the destruction, a shadowy figure watches the chaos and confirms Heihachi’s death. Although the Mishima Zaibatsu appears to have fallen, an unidentified leader swiftly reclaims control and rebuilds the organization’s strength. One month later, the Zaibatsu announces the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, signaling the start of a new and dangerous chapter.
