The Idolmaster SP is a set of three Japanese idol-raising simulation games within the The Idolmaster franchise. They were launched as Perfect Sun, Missing Moon, and Wandering Star for the PlayStation Portable, serving as a port of the original The Idolmaster title. The SP series introduces gameplay changes from its predecessor, including a new promise system that emphasizes communication. The games offer three different modes: two for solo play and one multiplayer option supporting up to three players. The narrative follows a producer guiding 10 aspiring pop idols toward their dream of stardom, with each SP version featuring a unique set of idols. The decision to split SP into three versions was made to let players choose the edition that includes their favorite characters. Rival idols were added to SP because the developers believed that competition is a key element of The Idolmaster, helping to strengthen the connection between the player and the idols. In Perfect Sun, players take on the role of a producer for one of three idols: Haruka Amami, Makoto Kikuchi, or Yayoi Takatsuki.
