A port of "The Lawnmower Man" for CD-based consoles and home computers. This version is an interactive movie, in addition to the side-scrolling platformer found on other home consoles at the time.
Because of his hesitation to direct the research toward military applications, after one of the chimps breaks free and kills a guard in the process, Dr. Angelo is sent on a mandatory leave. While documenting the need for human experimentation, he encounters Jobe Smith (Jeff Fahey), a man with low intelligence who supports himself through odd jobs like lawn mowing (hence, the title character). Initial trials rapidly boost Jobe's intellect, but after an incident causes Angelo to halt the experiments, The Shop, a covert agency overseeing Project 5, reintroduces the drugs that provoke aggression and accelerates the treatment. As Jobe begins to manifest telekinetic abilities, he seeks vengeance against those who mistreated him prior to the treatments and devises a plan to control all computers worldwide. The CD version of the game (PC, Mega CD) is an interactive film, while the cartridge versions are side-scrolling platformers where the player controls either Dr. Angelo or Carla Parkette (the mother of Jobe's best friend), engaging in typical run-and-gun action. Players can gather improved weapons or data discs, and after collecting a set number, they can transform into the Virtual Suit, which grants protection against the first hit. The game takes players through various locations from the movie, including the gas station and the VSI headquarters.
