The Sims: Unleashed is the fifth expansion for The Sims, bringing lively animal companions into the game with all the joy and care that comes with having a pet. Instead of being just objects, pets are now full Sims with their own behaviors and needs. Unleashed also introduces new career paths such as Chef, Circus Performer, and, of course, Veterinarian. The expansion includes 125 new items for both pets and players to enjoy. For the first time, Sims can cultivate their own vegetable gardens. Once harvested, the produce can be stored in a pantry and either sold at a local farmer's market or consumed by the gardeners themselves. Those who tend to their gardens might find a loyal cat companion especially helpful, as they can scare away pesky rabbits and gophers.
Sims can train their puppy on where to "go," or enlist the help of the Pet Trainer character for housebreaking assistance. The local Pet Show offers the perfect opportunity to showcase prized pets and win over judges with their obedience, temperament, and clever tricks. Owning a pet also opens up new social possibilities for Sims, as a stroll in the park can lead to meeting fellow pet-loving neighbors. In addition to dogs and cats, The Sims: Unleashed allows Sims to bring home parrots, lizards, turtles, and other low-maintenance pet shop companions.
