Summary

The Surge is a science fiction reimagining of Dark Souls, developed by the team behind Lords of the Fallen. A devastating incident leaves you unconscious on your very first day at work. When you awaken, you're clad in a heavy-duty exoskeleton, trapped in a ruined part of the facility. Malfunctioning robots, deranged augmented employees, and rebellious AI all turn against you—every threat is out to kill you. Confront lethal adversaries and massive bosses in intense, up-close combat. Focus on and sever specific limbs from your enemies using a cutting-edge looting system where you collect what you cut off. Gear up, enhance, and forge new weapons and armor from the parts you harvest, evolving your character through an innovative approach to progression and leveling up.

Storyline

Set in a bleak, dystopian future where Earth is nearing the end of its existence, the remaining population in overcrowded cities must struggle just to survive as social systems are overwhelmed by an aging populace and worsening environmental plagues. The world of The Surge presents a dark outlook on the future, where the progression of technology, society, and humanity’s relationship with the environment has led to a state of decay and decline in civilization. Equipped with a state-of-the-art CREO exo-suit, players must balance their core power with implants and suit upgrades to develop a wide range of combat styles. With nearly endless combinations of attachments and makeshift weapons scavenged from the industrial complex, you can customize your loadout to fit your preferred approach. As your core power grows, the Metroidvania-style levels gradually open up, enabling you to overload previously inaccessible doors and uncover new routes. The expansive CREO facility holds countless secrets, and to craft the finest weapons and gear, you must thoroughly explore every corner in search of hidden treasures.
