In her early twenties, Kelly is compelled to return to Nebraska. Back to the vast, flat horizon, the boundless fields of whispering corn, dotted with weathered silos and fading towns. As a fierce Midwestern storm rolls in, Kelly is caught outside and must make her way home. Three Fourths Home is a visual short story where you step into Kelly’s shoes as she drives through the tempest. Over the 20-mile stretch from her grandparents’ deteriorating barn to her parents’ house, she gets a call from her mother. As you traverse a stylized version of rural Nebraska, you guide a long conversation between Kelly, her parents, and her younger brother. Three Fourths Home explores a pivotal moment in these characters’ lives and the bonds that connect them. The story delves into various challenges facing Kelly and her family, including disability, the transition to adulthood, and the weight of family duty.
