Thunder Force II

Summary

Thunder Force II is a side-scrolling shooter created by Technosoft. It was among the six games released alongside the U.S. launch of the Genesis. The game serves as the second installment in the Thunder Force series.

Storyline

Set shortly after Thunder Force, the ORN Empire develops a formidable new battleship, the Plealos (also known as Preareos). With this powerful vessel, ORN launches another assault on the Galaxy Federation. The attacks lead to the complete annihilation of the Federation-affiliated planet Reda and severe damage to the planet Nepura (also known as Nebula), which ORN eventually seizes from the Galaxy Federation. Later, the Galaxy Federation discovers that ORN stores the Plealos deep beneath the surface of Nebula when it's not in use, and they use this intelligence to devise a plan to eliminate it. They deploy the latest model in their Fire Leo line of fighter ships, the FIRE LEO-02 Exceliza, to dismantle ORN's bases on Nepura and ultimately locate and destroy the Plealos. As the player, you pilot the Exceliza through a series of diverse stages to achieve this mission.
