Total War: ROME REMASTERED is an updated and enhanced version of ROME: Total War (2004). It is a strategy game set in the ancient Roman world, where players take control of a faction and strive to defeat rival powers, conquer ancient Rome, and rise to the rank of emperor, using a blend of military, diplomatic, and economic strategies. The game is set on a historically accurate depiction of ancient Rome and its neighboring regions, and gameplay is split into two main components. 1) The Campaign Map – This is a turn-based strategic map where players can recruit and train troops, manage cities and towns through construction, advance through technological developments, conduct diplomacy, and initiate wars to dominate other factions. The goal on the campaign map is to seize territory from opponents and gain control of the region. This is accomplished through a mix of military actions (such as moving and positioning armies) and non-military approaches (like trade and diplomacy, or using agents to gather intelligence on rivals). 2) The Battles – These are real-time 3D land battles with detailed and realistic graphics. They occur as a result of army movements and conflicts on the campaign map. Players command their forces in real time against an opponent in a 3D battlefield environment. Armies are made up of units that can be controlled individually or in groups. Players can issue commands to move and attack in various formations to outmaneuver and defeat the enemy. A wide range of unit types is available, each with unique attributes (such as infantry, ranged units, cavalry, and siege weapons). A battle ends when one side's army is completely defeated. Players can choose from several game modes: - The main campaign, where they can take control of one of several factions (some of which can only be played after being defeated in the main campaign) - A Historical Battle: pre-defined scenarios that recreate real historical battles - Custom Battle: where players can tailor the battle by selecting factions, conditions, and other parameters - Quick Battle: where players are randomly assigned a battle scenario - Multiplayer: where players compete against each other online Total War: ROME REMASTERED includes two expansion packs that were originally released separately for ROME: Total War (2004): - ROME: Total War - BARBARIAN INVASION - ROME: Total War - ALEXANDER Both expansions have been remastered alongside the base game and are included as part of the main product.
