Summary

Ugh! is an arcade-style flight game created by Bones Park Software Artistic and released in 1992 by PlayByte for the Amiga, Commodore 64, and DOS. The game is a remake of Space Taxi. It follows a caveman who, in an effort to impress his future love interest, pilots a primitive, muscle-powered stone-age helicopter, ferrying passengers to their destinations for cash. The player must complete 69 levels while avoiding natural hazards, as well as aggressive Dinosaurs and "Birds" (which are actually pterosaurs). Hitting obstacles, landing too hard, or brushing the rotor against objects will damage the helicopter. Additionally, operating the helicopter drains the pilot's stamina, which can be restored by collecting fruits that fall from Trees when struck with Stone. Stone can also be thrown at enemies to temporarily disable them. Ugh! was later released as shareware, primarily through Bulletin Board Systems and magazine cover disks. The Commodore 64 edition includes a two-player hotseat mode, where two players take turns trying to complete the level. Meanwhile, the DOS and Amiga versions support a cooperative two-player mode where both players act simultaneously. The game uses level codes to track the player's progress; single-player level codes are named after Christian Death songs, while two-player codes are based on song titles from Current 93.
