For over 50 years, a secret organization has been hosting underground street races across the USA. What began as a casual gathering has evolved into a prestigious annual competition for cash prizes and fame. Only six racers are chosen to prove their mettle. US Racer features 11 tracks set in various locations throughout the United States. Players can race through major cities like Los Angeles, New York, or Washington DC, or challenge the open roads of the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. In addition to Time Trial and Single Race modes, the Tournament is the central attraction. It is divided into three stages: Park Trial, City Trial, and US Race. Each completed stage unlocks the next. The tracks are filled with hazards, jumps, and rival racers who will attempt to force you off the road. Police patrols also add to the danger. Power-ups are hidden throughout the courses, offering car repairs, speed boosts, or cash. The money earned can be used to upgrade the vehicle, fix damage, or purchase boost before a race. Completing a full tournament with a specific car unlocks a new vehicle for that racer. In the Windows edition, two-player duels can be played over LAN or TCP/IP. Players can compete directly against each other or take on the role of Cop versus Racer.
