Valkyrie Profile is a role-playing video game created by tri-Ace and published by Enix, now known as Square Enix, for the PlayStation. It launched in Japan on December 22, 1999, and in North America on August 29, 2000. A refined version of the game was later made available for the PlayStation Portable, titled Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, with a Japanese release on March 2, 2006, followed by North America on July 18, 2006, and Europe on April 27, 2007.
Inspired by Norse mythology, the game follows a valkyrie as she takes on the responsibility of gathering and training the souls of fallen warriors (Einherjar) for their journey to Valhalla, where they will face the ultimate clash between the Æsir and Vanir during Ragnarok. As she progresses, she gradually uncovers the sorrowful truths of her own forgotten history.
