Summary

Storyline
Vampyr is set in early 20th-century Britain, where the deadly Spanish flu has gripped the nation and the streets of London are overrun with sickness, crime, and terror. Amid the crumbling, haunted city, the foolish, the desperate, or the unfortunate who dare to roam the streets become targets for Britain’s most secretive hunters: vampires. From the turmoil emerges a tormented soul. You are Jonathan E. Reid, a respected military surgeon who, upon returning from the war, is cursed with a vampiric transformation. Wander the eerie, atmospheric streets of early 1900s London and engage with a wide cast of characters, each with their own distinct personalities and significance. Take on their quests and help them, but remember: eventually, you must feed, and the hard decision will come—whom will you make your victim? Every character in the game is a potential target for your bloodthirst. Study their routines, their connections, and plan your approach to feed undetected: charm them, alter their habits, or manipulate events to leave them alone in the shadows... Choose your prey wisely, for once they're gone, they won't return, and their death will have lasting consequences on the world around you. Drinking human blood will not only sustain you—it will also unlock new vampire abilities to wield in your journey. There will be moments when stealth and persuasion won't be enough, and you'll have to engage in Vampyr's fast-paced real-time combat. This system combines brutal close-quarters fighting with ranged attacks and supernatural powers. You'll face a variety of foes: rival vampires, monstrous creatures, and vampire hunters determined to track you down with weapons, tools, and deadly traps. In Vampyr, your health and the "energy" fueling your powers are one and the same. Using your abilities drains your own blood, giving you an advantage in battle but also weakening you. You'll need to find ways to feed during combat to restore your strength. Vampyr also features a rich crafting system. Gather and scavenge materials from the bodies of your victims or during your explorations to craft and enhance tools, melee and ranged weapons, and special ammunition and coatings to exploit enemy vulnerabilities. As you struggle to hold on to your last remnants of humanity, your choices will ultimately define the path of your hero as he seeks truth in the choking, fog-laden aftermath of the Spanish Flu.
