Hot on the heels of the wildly popular, fast-paced action of the Game Boy Advance’s WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! comes this party-style version for GameCube. Many of the original handheld’s mini-games have been reworked for four-player fun on the console. Players compete to be the fastest teeth-brushers, the most careful nose pickers, the best free-throw shooters, the most accurate apple launchers, the most talented paper-airplane fliers, and the winners of dozens of other lightning-fast challenges that last just a few seconds each. Like the GBA version, a wide range of activities are tied together by a simple, unifying concept, creating a nostalgic experience that instantly appeals to anyone who played video games before 3D graphics and complex narratives. Part of the excitement comes from not knowing which five-second challenge will appear next or what strange task players will be asked to perform. Even when not in control of the main character, some mini-games let players contribute in a more passive way, enhancing the cooperative and group-based gameplay.
