Wizardry I & II includes the first two entries in the Wizardry series: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord and Knight of Diamonds. Both titles were adapted for the PC Engine (TurboGrafx) CD system with a number of improvements, though they were never released individually. In this version, the two games are combined into a single experience, allowing players to transition seamlessly between them from the main menu. While the gameplay and visual style remain largely true to the original computer editions, the enhancements are substantial enough to classify this as a remake. Like the NES / Famicom edition, the dungeons feature simplified graphics compared to the vector-based visuals of the original computer versions. Enemy sprites are more detailed and take up more screen space. Players start with a pre-assembled party of six, featuring characters with generic names such as "Fighter" and "Samurai." Unlike the modified PC Engine CD version of Might and Magic, the option to create custom characters is still available. Dungeon exploration is enhanced with orchestrated CD audio music, while battle music is presented in PSG format.
